I like the frozen meals from Meals on Wheels the most. I have a freezer on the side of the house that the volunteers deliver meals to once a week. If I’m not home, I know I will have meals ready when I need them. During the summer months, I enjoy the salads. I email my order to the Port Macquarie branch which is easiest for me.
I enjoy cooking meals at home but find ordering from Meals on Wheels allows more variety during the week. The roasts are my favourite. I pick up 4-5 meals a week fortnightly. The staff are very pleasant and always helpful. I really enjoy attending the Christmas Party at the Camden Haven location. Gary does a great job at the BBQ and it is always well organized.
I have enjoyed Meals on Wheels for over 2 years. I cook light meals at home but like to have something healthy in the freezer when I need it. Meals on Wheels makes it easier for me. They do a wonderful frozen meal and when reheated, it tastes just like it was freshly cooked. The salads in the summer are absolutely beautiful. The staff and volunteers are wonderful and go beyond what is expected with surprises on special occasions such as Easter, Meals on Wheels Week and Mother’s Day. They don’t have to do these extra things, but they do. They are like family.
My mother and a friend have enjoyed the benefits of Meals on Wheels in Melbourne. When I retired to this area I looked around for volunteer opportunities and found the Taree branch of Meals on Wheels. I found the group welcoming and the computer based training just right. The work of the volunteer is not only about delivering a meal but also keeping an eye out when handing over the meal for other help that might be needed - like helping fill out Census forms or putting frozen meals in the freezer - or having a brief chat if clients want to. I have now been delivering meals for about a year mainly around Taree, but also Forster and Tuncurry from time to time, and find it very rewarding.
We love your food so much that we sometimes even eat it for breakfast!
I would just like to tell you that the meals that I have had are absolutely beautiful! They are so delicious: this is the first time in weeks that I have had a full meal. Today I ate it all because it’s just so beautiful. Thank you!
The lamb casserole was lovely! Very nice and tender, just had to tell you.
